Watch Him Drink This Water – Would You Drink It?

All the survival prep in the world is moot if you don’t have water to keep alive. Finding effective water sources, and ways to make it safe, is paramount. In a survival situation, see which of these two methods you’d be up for:     Don’t forget to pass along the video once you’ve enjoyed it. You can give us your 2 cents below:

What To Put In Your 72-Hour Survival Kit (“Bug-Out Bag”)?

Don’t have your bug-out bag yet?  Think yours is complete? If you’re like me, it’s easy to make lots of preps at home… and completely neglect putting together a complete short-term  survival kit. Here’s a pretty thorough guide to things you should consider having handy & ready to go on moment’s notice:     Be sure to let others be stirred to action – share it, they’ll thank you later! As always, your comments are welcomed:

Food, Clothing and… Oh, Yeah – Shelter!

You take it for granted.  So do I. A climate-controlled environment free from bugs, predators, and unpleasant weather is a blessing we don’t want to be without. But if we are forced to flee, or else find ourselves stranded in the wilderness, here’s a guy who can teach us a thing or two about sealing off threats as best we can in the “elements.”     If you like what you saw here, please pass it on to your friends [...]

Long-Term Food Storage: Tried & True Techniques

We actually use the 5-gallon buckets & lids from Lowe’s… along with mylar bags. Fill them up with beans, rice, sugar, flour, spaghetti, dehydrated foods, etc. & simply drop an oxygen absorber packet inside.  We then use an iron along a 2×4 to seal up a crisp seam and the mylar bag “glues” itself together! Pop the top on and you’ve got food staples that can last 20 or 30 years…     Share this with the people you care [...]

Video Gives New Meaning To The Phrase “Fire & Ice”

This is not your typical magnifying glass! One thing’s for sure, there may be no place you’d want a fire more than where you’re surrounded by ice.  It seems a bit counter-intuitive, but using ice as a prism makes sense when you think about it… If you’re as impressed as I was, please be sure to share this with your friends!     Oh, before you go… enter the fray below! Leave a Comment & let us know what YOU [...]

Slick Self-Defense When Your Body Is Your Only Weapon

Check out these very fluid moves, as the guy leverages inertia and momentum to his advantage. It’s hard to beat a gun, but I’ve always appreciated how mixed martial artists can get the job done with their hands… even against larger adversaries. This is some inspiring footage, especially since the foundation of survival is self-defense!     Please be sure to share this with your friends… & speak up about your thoughts by leaving a comment below!

Beans, Corns, Squash &… Oh My!

I was just chatting with Art about “survival seeds” or heirloom/non-hybrid seeds.  I mentioned how I have 6 of the sealed “coffee can” size packs, each with over 1.4 pounds of non-hybrid seeds. Minus potatoes, which admittedly I’ve never grown, I’ve got my bases covered.  And, although I know how to garden, it’s probably a good idea to get into the practice of havesting not only crops, but also the seed for next year. Moreover, there ain’t no potatoes in [...]

Stuff That Could Come In Handy Got Me Thinking…

I’ve often thought about what a big deal it would be if your home windows were shot out or weather wreaked havoc on them.  What if you couldn’t just run down to the nearest Lowe’s or Home Depot and purchase a replacement? If SHTF and people start shooting, it’s not hard to see how your glass could go bye-bye.  And if it’s not yet time to bail, what do you do?  I was thinking about basic building materials and how [...]

Light, Tight & Ready For Flight

Here’s a bit of a different take on a survival kit. For one, there’s not much to it… but it appears there are some thoughtful essentials which may just cover the bases. One thing is for sure – the size of this kit makes is real easy to keep with you, and it’s perfect if you’re fleeing and can’t tote a lot of superfluous stuff but need to be prepared for some rugged encounters!     Please comment below to [...]

    Covert Or Overt?

I remember when this first hit the airwaves.  Seems like it was before Nat Geo’s Doomsday Preppers even came out. Anyway, I remember thinking that this lady could become the de facto convenience store in her home town if things tank. So, it raises the dichotomy of being the “watchman” shouting from the rooftops and also using wisdom not to advertise your situation to broadly.  Watch her parade her stores & you’ll see what I mean:     How do [...]

Hhhmmm… Are There Fewer Black Preppers?

I’m trying to remember if there were any Black folks on Nat Geo’s Doomsday Preppers??? Maybe on the next season.  Aside from how many Black Preppers there may or may not be, the real question is how would you deal with that situation?  Does your definition of “your own kind” change based on the circumstances?     Is there a real shortage of Black Preppers?  Or is the ratio equivalent & there’s just fewer of them because they’re a smaller [...]

  • World’s Most Challenging “Balancing Act”

    World’s Most Challenging “Balancing Act”

We all live with the consequences of our financial decisions.  We spend more than we take in & we pay the price. Even corporations have to balance the books and (theoretically) be held accountable to stockholders. Only in government do you find a group of people spending money they do not have to produce and being held accountable to essentially nobody.  What’s worse, the mess they create ends up in OUR laps:     Know any professional “number crunchers?”  Wonder [...]

Dumped The Dollar? Where To Go?

I’ve been out of fiat currency for nearly 15 years.  What about you? It’s still a medium of exchange, sure, but do we really want to store any real wealth there? Do you find the arguments for “real money,” such as gold, compelling?     Pass this along and see if people don’t at least think twice about keeping lots of cash around when it could go into durable goods and precious metal. Love to hear what you think as [...]

When SHTF… And Speaking Of Which…

I’ve seen this one talked about from time to time. Seems some people are more concerned about toilet paper than others.  Some are dead serious about having an ample supply.  Others don’t even bother to mention it. This guy has yet another idea entirely…     This could be a potentially divisive Prepper topic!  Are YOU going to be stocking up on TP?  Or channeling your resources in other directions? Pass it along & let me know what you think…

    Entertaining Video, Serious Topic

This isn’t something I’d given a lot of thought to. It’s one thing to think about using weapons to hunt or protect ourselves against attacks from gangs or outlaws. But, if we find ourselves fleeing on foot, it’s a real consideration to think about how to guard against things like bears & mountain lions.     What are your thoughts about being prepared to keep wild critters at bay if you find yourself fleeing through the midst of their habitat? [...]

    Great For HomeSchoolers, But Survivalists?

This looked like a nice thing to have my wife do with our kids during homeschool. But, then I remembered this was a survivalist gig, and that it was supposed to be about prepping! My knee-jerk reaction was that candles are cheap… and that I have bigger fish to fry (in both time & money), and so maybe we should save this for a rainy day (if at all).  Take a look for yourself.  It’s cool, but….     I’m [...]
